One cost-effective way to improve an airplane’s in-flight entertainment (IFE) system is through upgrades and retrofits. Swapping existing components for new and/or more advanced components is significantly less expensive than replacing the entire IFE system. A full replacement may also waste components and wiring that remain well within their useful life.
The benefits of upgrades and retrofits are two-fold. First, passengers benefit from an improved in-flight experience. Newer, more advanced LCD monitors display more colors, are more vibrant, and have improved viewing angles over older models. Second, upgrades and retrofits can be installed without the need for wiring changes or aircraft downtime.
